Key Tenets of SMA

Within Saber Martial Arts, we hold 3 key tenets, or principles of belief:

Safety

This is a full-contact combat-designed activity.
We strongly believe in protecting all participants in Saber Martial Arts, those inside the fighting arena, as well as team mates, and spectators.

Safety must be number one – both in terms of the fighter’s equipment but also their abilities as well. A fighter must conduct themselves in a manner that keeps themselves, their opponents, and everyone else in attendance from possible injury.

Martial Spirit

The Martial Spirit is the combination of mind, attitude and wisdom.
Martial arts originated through warriors in the military, and while those
who practice and train in modern-day martial arts may not necessarily be warriors
in that traditional sense, the Martial Spirit lives on through the application of
training and display of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual principles of our schools.
All schools are encouraged to have a Code of Conduct that outlines their Martial Spirit

Fun

While we take Saber Martial Arts seriously, we must also make sure we are having fun!
Sometimes your training will be hard, it may break you down at times – that’s part of
the process – but in all things we should strive towards balance. We’re all fans of
Star Wars, we enjoy our escape to a long long time ago in a galaxy far away.
We keep in mind this is a hobby and is meant to be enjoyed.
